Dr Guillaume Walters-du Plooy is lead Clinical Psychologist and founder at Reverence Recovery.
He is passionate about helping individuals overcome complex and enduring cases of eating disorders, as well as other behavioural challenges. He also welcomes other psychological problems like mood disorders, addiction and dependency, trauma, anxiety-related disorders, and self-harm presentations.
Guil holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Africa. His research focused on complex and treatment-resistant eating disorder presentations, providing him a wealth of insight in the area. He is also credentialed with the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED), and currently serves as Program Co-ordinator for the Eating Disorders Program at Ramsay Hollywood Clinic (Perth, WA). With over 15 years of experience, working in psychiatric hospitals, addiction centres, community clinics, and in private practice – he is well positioned to support you in your journey.
Guil believes in a person-centred approach, effectively incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) within individualised care. He creates a safe and supportive environment with a calm and respectful demeanour, not shying away from complexity and meeting clients where they are.
Seeing clients break free from debilitating thoughts and behaviours to become more authentically themselves is the most rewarding aspect of his work. Clients often describe him as a healthy balance between caring and respectful, yet direct and insightful in his feedback and guidance.
Guil offers individual- and group therapy, focussing on older adolescents and adults. If you're seeking support for complex or enduring challenges, Guil is ready to meet you on your journey.
