Are you battling an eating disorder and searching for recovery? You’re not alone.
— The Hon Emma McBride MP (Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention)
Over one million Australians battle disordered eating and body image concerns, yet accessing the right care can feel frustrating, tiring, and sometimes overwhelming.
Western Australians experience numerous barriers to accessing treatment for their eating disorders:
At Reverence Recovery, we recognise that your path to healing is unique, and we’re committed to making the process of accessing treatment easier.
Is your eating disorder stealing your joy and potential in life?
Then, it’s time to challenge the thoughts and behaviours that are holding you captive.
Founded by Guillaume (everyone calls him ‘Guil’), a clinical psychologist with extensive experience in treating eating disorders, he focusses on supporting people just like you – those facing complex and deeply personal challenges related to food, body image, and self-worth.
Reverence Recovery was founded on the belief in your ability to:
Reverence Recovery recognises that eating disorders are complex, and no two journeys look the same. Whether you’re dealing with restrictive eating, binge eating, or any combination of disordered behaviours, Guil has expertise to guide you through recovery with compassion and clarity.
You are more than just a diagnosis. Reverence Recovery meets you where you are, with compassion, professionalism, and unwavering support.
Guil’s tailored approach helps you break free from the cycle of disordered eating and cultivate a healthier relationship with food and yourself.
He’ll help you develop a foundation of self-compassion and resilience so you can navigate your challenges.
While Guil has a special interest in eating disorders, he also provides care for a wide range of mental health conditions. These services include:
Reverence Recovery is different. It doesn’t add to the burden of finding a competent therapist who can deal with difficult feelings, thoughts, or behaviours.
Whether you’re dealing with multiple co-occurring conditions, intricate treatment scenarios, enduring trauma, or long-standing diagnoses – Reverence Recovery doesn’t shy away from such complexities – in fact, we welcome it.
Guil has extensive experience that allows him to understand your unique circumstances and tailor a treatment path that’s right for you, no matter the complexities or co-morbidities. If you’re ready to engage in treatment, Reverence Recovery is ready to meet you where you are.
Reverence Recovery was founded on the belief that there exists no one-size-fits-all solution to an eating disorder. Symptom reduction is not the sole focus.
Your treatment and recovery are as individual as you are, and so is our approach. Guil is flexible and adapts his approach to your needs, empowering you to create lasting transformation.
We only use treatments backed by research, ensuring you receive a high standard of clinical and ethical care.
You deserve support from someone who understands what you’re going through, has walked the difficult road before, and is committed to your healing. Guil works with every client individually to encourage personal growth, healing, and recovery.
Reverence Recovery offers individual therapy, in face-to-face and online formats. Telehealth sessions open the door to provide treatment for anyone, located anywhere in Australia.
Reverence Recovery offers a weekly face-to-face support group for anyone with a valid eating disorders diagnosis, enhancing your individual therapy by connecting with others sharing the same journey as you.
Don’t let your eating disorder define you any longer. You don’t have to do this alone. You deserve a therapy experience that’s as unique as you are. If you’re ready to start your recovery journey—or even just explore your options—reach out to us today.
Reclaim your life and find reverence for your body and yourself. Reverence Recovery is here to help you regain control, restore balance, and rebuild your relationship with food and your body.
Apprehension toward treatment is quite common. Introducing changes and working towards meaningful growth can, for some, feel incredibly daunting.
We welcome those with apprehension to still attend an appointment and relay their fears to the therapist. Treatment is individualised to your own circumstances, specific challenges, and unique person.
Remember, part of treatment can also be focussed on helping you overcome the contemplation phase. For some, this can take quite some time. By becoming recovery focussed, you move onto the beginnings of actual eating disorders recovery.
Anyone with an eating disorders concern is welcome to book and attend the services offered at Reverence Recovery.
Whether you are seeking support for yourself, or needing help with your adolescent who is struggling, we will assess your treatment needs and goals to tailor a treatment plan that best suits you.
No, you don’t need a referral. Self-referrals are also accepted.
However, if you wish to make use of Medicare benefits during your treatment, a valid Mental Healthcare Plan, or valid Eating Disorders Care Plan is required (both obtained from your GP).
For our support group, we do ask that you attend your GP prior to attending, to complete our GP Referrer form (see Support Group page).
The approximate rebates received from Medicare for both these services are:
Individual therapy – $142
Group therapy – $35
Reverence Recovery only conducts therapy that uses the medium of language/discussion. We do not offer services for young children where play-style therapy is needed.
If your adolescent can hold an adult-style conversation, which means they can voice their opinions and feelings adequately through discussion, then they are welcome to attend.
Yes, most certainly.
Family members and carers can be great agents in bolstering treatment outcomes, and we welcome their input if this aligns with your wishes and needs.
In cases where parents wish to be included in their adolescent’s treatment, we discuss the boundaries of confidentiality at the outset of treatment, with a priority focus on the index client.
It is understandable that parents are concerned about the wellbeing of their children. In the spirit of trying to aid families, and guide parents to assist their child better, feedback may provided when necessary, but only with the consent of the index client.
Yes, at present our individual therapy sessions are by videoconferencing only. This is for ease-of-use purposes, and allows those in remote areas to access eating disorder psychology services too.
In the near future, we will commence face-to-face individual treatments.
Our weekly support group is in face-to-face format. Please see our Support Group page for more details.
Yes we do consult certain Saturdays. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call or complete the contact form provided below.
